Sarasota Democrats overtaken by “other” party affiliations

There are more “other” political affiliation registered voters than registered Democrat voters as of Wednesday in Sarasota County.

Florida GOP Chairman Christian Ziegler Tweeted pointed out on social media that those registered under “other” have become the second largest voting block by party status in the county.

“Even MORE proof that Floridians are NOT buying the radical agenda that the Democrats are selling!” Ziegler said.

According to the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections website, there are 100,488 registered Democrat voters, 156,647 registered Republican voters, and 100,495 registered “other” voters.

Florida’s Voice asked the Sarasota County Democrat party for a comment and what they are doing to encourage more Democrats to register to vote, but did not receive an immediate response.

During the November general election, a red tsunami swept across Florida.

To the disarray of Florida Democrats, Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican Party of Florida successfully flipped traditionally Democrat-heavy or Democrat-leaning counties across the Sunshine State, in some cases by double digit margins.

Following the election, the Florida Democratic Party elected former Agriculture Commissioner and gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried to serve as its leader.

The Republican Party of Florida recently launched the “Blue County Strategy Committee,” which will be laser focused on “picking off” Democrat-held seats at every level of government.

“Governor DeSantis set the bar high – winning 62 of 67 counties in Florida – but our job is not done until we win the other five counties are red and there are no Democrats in office or considering running for office in the State of Florida,” Ziegler said.

Florida’s Republican Party also launched the “Early Vote Operations Committee” with 15 county leaders that will be focused solely on early voting.

Ziegler announced the committee will focus on vote-by-mail and early in-person voting.

“News out of Wisconsin tonight is that we lost the vital Supreme Court seat due to Democrats outperforming us in Early Voting… That isn’t going to happen in Florida,” Ziegler said.

“We are going to aggressively go after every ballot and bank votes as soon as possible,” he continued.
